BIRDWATCHING / BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY
LET'S GO BIRDING / JOM MEMBURUNG
Roslan Abu Kassim, Chairman of BirdGroup Taman Negara is inviting you to join our Birding Tour with him in Taman Negara and Tembeling Hornbill Valley.
There are 10 species of Hornbills in whole Malaysia and 9 of them are recorded in Taman Negara and Tembeling Hornbill Valley.
Let's find star birds of Taman Negara including Crested Fireback, Crestless Fireback, Malayan Rail Babler, Great Argus, Crested Partridge, Malayan Peacock Pheasant, Helmeted Hornbill, White-crowned Hornbill, Wrinkled Hornbill, Straw-headed Bulbul, Large Frogmouth, Garnet Pitta, Diard's Trogon, White-rumped Shama, and the list goes on.
BIRDING IN TAMAN NEGARA
479 species of birds have been recorded in Taman Negara (click here), and the number is unmatched by any other wildlife area in the region.
One maybe excited with the number of birds they may expect to find but all birders should acknowledge that they need to be quiet, alert and patient as birding is not easy in the dense rainforest such as Taman Negara.
Good binoculars (preferably 10 x 42 or 8 x 42), bird's field guide, notepad and water bottle are essential items during the birding trips. DSLR camera with high-performance telephoto zoom lens is an added advantage.
Birdings in Taman Negara are best done early morning and late afternoon. Popular locations are Tahan Hide, Swamp Loop, Canopy Walkway, Terisek Hill, along Tahan River, Canopy Walkway, Kuala Trenggan and Tembeling Hornbill Valley.
Please ensure your Birding Trip is a guided one in order to maximise your findings!
